Day Of Learner's Licence Test
The applicant should arrive at the testing centre at least half an hour before the test starts and report at the relevant office. (Note that sometimes the venue for writing the test might not be at the same address where the test appointment was made. Be sure to confirm the address beforehand.)
What To Take Along
Take along the following items:
- Original South African bar-coded ID book or ID card / passport OR in the case of foreign nationals, your passport and traffic register number certificate (TRN).
- Two (2) recent black and white ID photos.
- Proof of Payment (printed page with test date and time on, received from testing station).
- Learner’s License Issue Fee (payable to the testing station by debit/credit card). Also take the amount in cash, in the event that their card machines are offline.
Currently the issue fee is R60-00 for code 2 in Gauteng.
Note
N.B. Remember to make the payment at the cashier after you've passed your test, to be issued with your Learner's License permit. Your Learner's Licence will be a printed A4 page with your particulars, photo and a fingerprint on.
After passing the Learner's License test, the Learner's License permit will be valid for 24 months.
